Accutane round 2!

Pretty much in tears about this initial breakout. Every hour I feel like I’m getting new little Whiteheads that come out of no where! My acne has never looked like this. A mixture of cyst white heads and all around grossness on my face. My skin looks even worse with makeup since it’s so bumpy. I’m really hoping this IB ends soon. As far as dryness that has pretty much stayed the same along w/ dry eye.

It has only been a few days but I figured I’d do an update just to keep track of my side effects! Dry skin is definitely happening. Not severely bad but my skin definitely feels tighter and moisturizer (CeraVe) is starting to sting after washing my face. I’ve only noticed a few more break outs (purge possibly?) in places I normally don’t break out. Majority of my break out are below my mouth him and jaw. I rarely break out on my forehead or around my eyes, but recently I’ve gotten 4!! They’re taking a while to heal so I’m wondering if it’s the tane. Anyways, lips are of course dry, not too bad, but definitely feel dehydrated and rough if I don’t apply some type of chapstick. My body is definitely starting to itch as well if I don’t apply enough moisturizer. Starting to make a habit out of moisturizing my body every time I get out of the shower and morning and night if I can. OH. And dry eye, oh my god, my eyes are CONSTANTLY RED and DRY! I’m a paraoptometric so luckily I have access to dry eye care, but man is it brutal! I’ve also noticed a bit of soreness too after working my 12 hr shifts, but nothing I can’t handle. Well that’s all for now! Fingers crossed for some improvement!

On my 2nd round of accutane 8 years later! Had OK results 8 years ago, however I was not consistent with it. I was only 16 so I didn’t use any form of birth control. My cystic acne came back around age 20 and continued to get worse after my 1st pregnancy. Tried a round of spironolactone and saw very little change. Decided to do a 2nd of accutane and am dreading the PURGE! Crossing my fingers I don’t get one. My Derm started me on 30 mg once a day in hopes that that the higher dosage will have a better effect this round. I am 102 lbs and 5’0 tall. Hoping this round will clear my skin for good! It’s a pricey 2nd round as I am now on my own insurance but I’m optimistic that it will all be worth it in the end! Will update again in 2 weeks!

Products I plan on using:
Night time:
- Neutrogena ultra gentle daily cleaner
- CeraVe moisturizing cream (body and face)
- Aquaphor (lips and body)

AM routine:
- Neutrogena ultra gentle daily cleaner (if my face can handle it)
- Clinique moisturizing gel
- CeraVe moisturizing cream if the Clinique isn’t hydrating enough
- Juno Sunday Riley Oil (super moisturizing hoping I can keep this in my regimen)
