Abdominoplasty with Diastasis Recti Repair.
ORIGINAL POST
Abdominoplasty with Diastasis Recti Repair.
WORTH IT$7,500
I’m a mom of three, my youngest is 7 years old so this is something I’ve wanted for a long time.
My babies were big- 8.9lbs, 9.3lbs and 11 lbs.
My abdominal wall is completely separated (diastasis recti) from my sternum to my pubic area and my core muscles and insides are just flopping around, no amount of abdominal exercise will correct it, I tried and tried, and one doctor finally told me that planks and crunches won’t help, it actually worsens the separation. Yay!
Repair requires surgery.
I’m asked on a regular basis.. (at lease once a week due to my occupation and the many people I see) if I’m pregnant or WHEN is my baby due, some don’t bother to even ask, they just assume I am.
This is a huge blow to my self esteem.
I avoid wearing dresses, not a single skirt, a ton of styles of tops.. just about anything I wear will still make me look pregnant. It’s really hard to go shopping for a cute outfit, and we won’t talk about swimsuits.
I am told the doctor will cut me from hip to hip and then a vertical cut from my belly button down. She will go in and up and sew my muscles back together like a corset or shoestrings.
She will pull the stomach down and create a new belly button (abdominoplasty).
I’ve read sooooo many reviews to try and know what to expect and figured I could share my story as well to try and help someone else along with their decision.
I’m happy to answer questions.
I’ll post photos along the way and give any detail I think is worth sharing.
I’m hoping for the best results but I am very realistic in my expectations and would just enjoy being able to button my shorts without pouring over the top.
Wish me luck!

Yes! I actually had a consultation with Dr. Aldea first. I didn't particularly care for how he talked or the fact that he said he decides who to work on based on whether or not he would "do them". I'm glad I didn't as I've read quite a few bad reviews from him. And also the fact that they make you sign that social media waiver saying you can't talk bad about them.

Yes mam! He left me feeling like I had just spent an hour at a used car lot. He pushed HARD for the lipo and when I said no he acted like i was wasting his time.

“No, I’m not pregnant.”
Posting these pics for encouragement and perspective during recovery.
Main goal: being able to wear cute tops that fit without being asked when I’m due.
140 pounds and wearing size 10 jeans I can barely button :(
even when I’m back down to 125 pounds I have trouble buttoning a size 6.

Same! I just want to not look 8 months pregnant all the time. I don't even want to be "snatched" as the young folks say lol. I can't wait to see your results and follow your journey! Are you getting muscle repair as well?

I feel you on all of this! I am so ready to get rid of my belly. It served its purpose by bearing my three wonderfully amazing daughters, but I am reclaiming my body and emotional wellness! Good luck to you! I look forward to reading your updates )

Day of treatment
All done and home.
I’m home and resting.
Dr Quigley has a good bedside manner and has called both my mother and myself tonight to check in on me.
She was great at the surgery center and didn’t make me feel rushed.
I wish I had a better pic of the markup because you can’t see the bottom line but this is the best I could do laying down.
They said they gave me some meds to calm my nerves as we rolled to the OR but I don’t remember even leaving the little waiting area I was in so I have no recollection of the OR at all.
My surgery took an hour longer than anticipated so in all I was at taken back at 8am left surgery at 11 something and didn’t leave recovery until 1pm.
The worst part for me was waking up, felt like I couldn’t keep my eyes open, but that is what I remember, not the pain.
Now I’m home and in some pain, but Dr Quigley said she had to do quite of but of tightening on my muscles.
Overall I feel like she took her time and did it right, and I’m very excited to see end results.
Have to wear the binder until Friday and wait to shower, so i won’t see underneath until then.

October 15, 2020
I haven’t felt shortness of breath at all. I feel better than I expected.

Great ! I am happy to hear. You look great and I am impressed you have the energy to post:).
October 15, 2020
Wow! You look amazing! Thank you for sharing.

I also wanted to ask about your transportation home from your procedure. Did you ride in a car or truck? I am wondering how that's going to go for me-lol

October 15, 2020
I rode in a minivan for an hour long ride and it was really fine. I slept on the way home, the meds were doing their job.
October 15, 2020
That is really reassuring. Did you have trouble getting in or out? I am thinking we will take our SUV.

October 15, 2020
I didn’t have trouble, but again I was on pretty good meds lol. My moms van was easy, I couldn’t imagine getting out of a car though. I recommend the suv for sure.

Can you post a current picture? My stomach looks just like yours did and I'm scheduled for 12/15!

October 16, 2020
I’m supposed to shower soon and when I do I’ll post a pic. I haven’t taken the binder off yet

October 16, 2020
I’m supposed to take a showier and when I do that I promise I’ll post pics
You’ve probably researched dr Aldea as well? I almost went with him. I had a consultation with him, and if you’re wanting to know my opinion I’ll share it as well, but he’s probably the most known in Memphis, that’s why I brought him up.
Good luck with your journey!
