Big Ears! - Madison, WI

I had pretty protruding ears to begin with. I would always wear my hair down to hide them. It bothered me for so many years that finally I decided to do something about it. After consultations etc I went ahead with an otoplasty. The procedure went very well! I was sort of awake for some of it I think, as in a vaguely knew what was going on, but was totally out of it at the same time. I don't remember too much about getting home after etc. I know I had a bandage around my ears and head for a week or so, and after that I wore an elastic band to hold my ears back. They were amazing right away, totally flat to my head. They soon came out a little though. I don't remember too much about pain. I think there was very little. Now, 3 years later, I'm quite pleased. The tops are a little elf-like and could do with going back further, but I guess they will never be perfect! I can still feel some sort of stitching or something at the backs of my ears, and if I bash them they go tingley for a while afterwards, but I don't think it's noticable to anyone else that I've had anything done. My surgeon was tootally lovely, really helpful, and was willing to have another go at fixing my ears after the surgery as I thought they were uneven. Overall, I am very glad I had this done. Like I said, they're not perfect, but they sure are a hell of a lot better than they were!
