25 days post treatment
I am using a silicon scar gel now but the mark is pretty much invisible now anyway.

I have had two raised, flesh coloured moles under my left nostril for many years and have always wanted them removed but worried doing so would leave scarring on my face. Luckily a little while ago I came across a YouTube video showing scarless mole removal using radio frequency waves and even more fortunate, it was performed by a clinic very close to my home! I did some further research and found out that the Ellman Surgitron treatment uses radio frequencies to cut and cauterise tissue down to superficial layers and because there is no damage done to the deeper layers of skin there are no stitches or scars from the treatment. I immediately rang and made an appointment to check that it my moles were able to be treated with this method.
My first appointment was quick and confirmed I would be a good candidate for this procedure. The consultation fee was $70 but there was a Medicare refund of about half this cost although I was told there was no Medicare or private health fund rebate for the actual mole removal as it is purely cosmetic. I was also advised that the total cost would be $350 for the removal of both the moles which I was more than happy to pay.
The day of the procedure I was a little nervous as I hate injections and near your nose is a sensitive spot but although it stung a little, it was not too uncomfortable. After the area was fully numb my eyes were covered as the light used using was very bright, there was also a cotton wad up put in my left nostril so I couldn't smell my burning flesh (gross!) and the nurse earthed me using a little disc under my upper back. As the surgeon started the excision there was a slight sensation of heat around the area but no pain whatsoever and I was able to relax while he made removed the moles down flush with my skin and feathered the edges to ensure the area would be unnoticeable when healed. The whole procedure was over in about 20 minutes and I left the clinic with a band aid and a tube of Chlorsig ointment which I was to apply for 10 days to keep the wound moist and infection free. I did not remove the dressing until the following day but even in the early stages it just looked like a couple of small grazes. Not allowing the area to dry out meant I was left with a flat wound which gradually decreased in size and colour.
The photos show the moles immediately before removal and the healing process with the last one being taken today 13 days after the procedure. I have not used any makeup on the area as yet but it is already barely perceptible. The clinic recommended a silicon scar gel called Strataderm which I can start using now there is no open wound, to remove any redness and ensure a scarless result.
I will update with a picture again once I have used this for a while but already I am thrilled with the result.

Provider Review
Dr Rainer Heigl
Dr Heigl had a lovely bedside manner and made me feel very at ease. He is a skilled practitioner and was very particular about getting a perfect result. I would highly recommend both him and the Ellman Surgitron method if you are looking for mole removal with little to no scarring.
