WORTH IT$250
It has been about 6 weeks since my 7% tca chemical peel and my face and neck have healed nicely. It's definitely not a huge difference in my skin, but I do have a fresher appearance and less discoloration. I plan on getting a higher % tca peel in about 6 months and considering also doing my chest, shoulders, arms and hands to refresh the skin and combat aging and old sun damage. I will document that procedure as well!

This is day 3 after my peel and it is defintely peeling and looking kinda gross, but I can see my skin underneath and it looks much fresher. My skin is very tight and dry. I was told not to exfoliate or pull the dead skin off. I did take a shower and as I cleaned my face, more dead skin fell off. It does sting a bit when applying moisturizer. I did get a checkin call from Kathy today and she said it sounds like everything is moving forward like normal.

I'm glad everything's progressing well for you! Had you tried other products or procedures before getting this chemical peel?

I have not done any other facial procedures yet, I may try some fat grafting in a couple of years...no botox, no fillers, no plastic surgeries so far

For 47 I don't see any wrinkles it must be working or you are doing something right. Your face is glowing and really healthy looking though.

are you a vampire? You could be my grandmother but I have wrinkles while your skin is as youthful as the skin of a 17 years old girl.

You are so sweet!! Well, I do stay out of the sun, wear plenty of sunscreen, so that does help, a lot!

Your skin is absolutely beautiful- what is your routine like?

Thank you so much, I really don't have a routine except stay out of the sun and wash with gentle cleansers and retinol

I'm so happy- I'm 24 and have been using daily sunscreen for about 7 or 8 years now and am glad to see it might eventually pay off for me...Hopefully! :) I hope you keep us posted on your TCA results! I have considered getting it done on my forearms because of scarring I have there.

Yes, I will definitely keep you posted. This chemical peel was very light, so I plan to do another one in about 6 months, and possibly my chest, shoulders, arms and hands...just to refresh the skin, to reduce aging and to remove sun damage over the years. I'm sure you're skin is beautiful...I'm so glad you are wearing sunscreen

Sounds like you have a good esthetician! Very thorough.
Getting a series of 4-5 of them done is where you'll see the huge improvements in your skin. Looks good!!

47 year old in need of first Chemical Peel, 7% TCA with Retinol

I'm 47 years old and decided to have my first chemical peel to help with dryness, fine lines, discoloration and skin damage over the years. I was recommended by a dear friend to have Kathy at Hunstad/Kortesis MedSpa in Huntersville, NC to apply my chemical peel. She decided I needed their signature peel which has 7% TCA and retinol. It's a light/medium peel based on how many layers she applies. I had a late appointment at 6pm. She explained the procedure and took pictures. I was given a fan and she explained each step. She applied 3 layers of TCA. It burned and tingled after the third layer, but was not that painful. She then layered it with retinol which soothed the burn and made it tolerable. It was not bad at all. I was instructed to leave it on my face for 4 hours then wash and moisturize. I washed my face at 10pm and it's very red, burns (like a bad sunburn) but not unbearable. She told me my face will feel very tight and then begin to peel during the 7 days of healing.

TCA peels tend to be self-neutralizing and require to be left on the akin, unwashed for up to 5 hours. If you allow your skin to get wet too soon, it will raise the pH rapidly, causing the skin to flush. For the next 2 weeks, make sure you hydrate, use spf, only clean makeup brushes, and spf. I am a Licensed Aesthetician.

Thank you for your advice. It definitely helped my skin, but it wasn't a drastic change. I may try a stronger tca % in about 6 months

Most important part.. is that you have a good pre and post skincare regimen.

Would have loved to see an unfiltered picture.

Most of the pictures are unfiltered, especially the last picture. I definitely cropped them as best I could for everyone to get a better view of the peeling and skin changes.
