WORTH IT
I’m sorry I haven’t updated, I’m not on this site often and it’s been so busy. I can say that I feel no pain at this point, but I’ve had two major chips in the molars. My bite is also really off, and i believe the chips are a result of that. I’ve called the office and they are aware, so I’ll deal with that at my follow-up, but, I’d be lying if I said i wasn’t really concerned about the longevity of this bridge. I also feel very uncomfortable speaking. The bridges feel too large and it’s almost like my chin is moving differently when annunciating certain sounds, like “sees”. A lot of air goes through the top bridge since the swelling has gone down, and this is also making it difficult to speak comfortably.
I also have a weird sandpaper-y feeling to the inside of the teeth - does that resonate for anyone else? Like they’re not smooth or polished. Lastly, the color has changed a bit. I may go brighter when i return, because I’ve noticed they can stain quite a bit from eating certain foods like tomato sauce. :/ I’m going back in May, but I’m nervous about these issues continuing...
Has anyone had teeth chipping?? I was eating semi soft foods when it occurred, so I can’t see this being avoided in the future.

ORIGINAL POST
G4 by Dr. Golpa
I’m typing this a day late because I had the surgery yesterday, but I’m finally getting around to posting.
What brought me here:
I’m a 39 year-old mom from New York, wife and nurse to 4 kids and an amazing husband. Like most who seek this procedure, I have lived with terrible teeth for almost my entire life. As a child, I had great deal care and preventative interventions. After braces, my teeth slowly began to crack, and feel ‘soft’. I kept up with care and regular dental visits, but bit by bit, crown aft crown, it just wasn’t helping. Suffering from hyperemesis throughout all of my pregnancies made my teeth their weakest, and I just couldn’t bear the pain and embarrassment. I never smiled with my entire being, and was so careful about angles when I should have been enjoying myself.
I must have pulled that off well, because most people had no idea how bad my dental health was. As a nurse, I felt hypocritical education patients on the importance of regular check-ups, when I was the one avoiding them. My last dentist appt last year the, he suggested I have all of my teeth extracted. I couldn’t imagine having dentures in my thirties...
I found Dr Golpa online after a local search turned up dentists who provide All on 4 services, but i want comfortable with their experience. I saw this as a one chance type of opportunity and got over the distance of his office rather quickly.
Speaking with Jarrett from the Golpa Center made me feel more confident in the decision. I booked the procedure for 1/17/18 and began to get my bed wrapped around going alone, because my husband had to stay with the kids and I either didn’t feel comfortable with others or they were busy.
Marco picked me up at The Rio (I wouldn’t suggest staying here) and we chatted the entire way ain’t soccer and shared interests. He definitely made me feel more relaxed and forget a bit of the anxiety I was holding onto.
Arriving at the office, I was immediately greeted by staff and taken to the lab by Kathy to see the technology used and have pictures taken. I never felt judged or embarrassed once.
Met with Amanda next had a full consult and x-rays. She was concerned with the infections under almost every root canal. Dr. Golpa came in and expressed my case as high need, and wanted to perform the implant procedure himself. I felt relieved by this and scared at the same time. We also picked out the shade of my new teeth and what i liked and didn’t in terms of shape.
I believe I’m spelling her name wrong, but next I met wit Berlinda to go over finances. We had trouble with my bank releasing my funds in a large sum, but she was so patient and never made me feel like an inconvenience. The next thing I knew, I was sitting in the surgical chair and met Jesus, the assistant. He was so comforting and soft spoken; I just adored him! Dr. T came in and explained that he will be doing the extraction and then Dr. Golpa will come in and handle the implants himself, and determine whether I need the sinus lift or not. I was quickly put under conscious sedation by the anesthesiologist (another wonderful employee). I do remember portions of the procedure but not in a detailed way, and never felt pain. I believe I was under at least 4 hours or more. I don’t remember much, but was taken to the hotel after discussing concerns and what to watch for by the Dr.
I slept horribly, but I normally do after anesthesia. I felt discomfort and took Advil (it helped), and drank some water. I was starving but nauseous so I just went to bed after showering. I was already showing signs of swelling and applied ice packs in bed. I probably slept less than 4 hours but it was ok...I’m currently waiting for the office to call me and let me know when to come back in today.

How are you feeling? Are you enjoying your new smile?
Congrats!! Your story is very similar to mine as I also suffered from hyperemesis and was left with teeth of a bulimic. Oh the things we do for our kids lol I am currently post op 2 months and also went to Golpa. I have been every lucky and have had a very successful experience. At 2 months, i feel that my new teeth are a part of me if that makes sense. It is great because I find that people are staring sometimes and eventually come up and ask what is different. :) I love that!
Make sure to keep icing and elevate. I iced A LOT as I was very nervous about the swelling and bruising. Hopefully, your recovery hasn't been too bad thus far. Given the timeline yesterday and today are probably your worst days. So hopefully you are doing good!
I hope you post pics so we can all see your new smile!!
Thank you for the advice!
Hi lukeleia, welcome to the G4 club. If I could suggest anything other than what you’ve been told is be patient with your healing, everyone’s different. Ask as many questions that you may have during this time, none are frivolous all valid. Find a good support friend who won’t mind teeth talk if you do have any issues or problems. B12 helps with bruising, numbing or swelling if you have it long term. Feel free to contact any of us who’s been through this procedure for advice & support. Use your waterpik, it’s your best friend now for your new teeth!!! We are all waiting to see your new smile! :)
Congratulations!!! Hope you’re feeling well! Can’t wait to see your new beautiful smile!'
Good to hear your story. I’m from NY too. I didn’t know you can go alone to have it done, I thought you needed a medical companion with you. I can’t wait to get mine done. I had braces growing up and I think that’s what caused my teeth issues. They were never put on properly as the braces were pushed down in between my teeth and gums creating pockets. Regular dental visits showed no cavities and my enamel was fine it was my gums that had issues. And I believe it was from my braces
