WORTH IT
I am 36Yrs Old with 2 kids - a 6 year old and a 2 year old. After I had my 2 year old, my breast size never went back to normal even after I stopped breastfeeding! Over time this is beginning to hurt my shoulders and back. Also it makes me hunch over. It's a vicious cycle for me as I joined crossfit to lose weight and get fit (hoping the breast will get smaller) however I am not able to participate in full exercises because of the weight of my breasts. My darling husband tried talking me into a Breast Reduction but I have been too scared.
Finally here I am!!!!
I had a consultation with the plastic surgeon in August 2017 and it went amazing. He is so professional yet so friendly ...I literally felt like I was having a conversation with a friend.
My Surgery date is fixed and I'm a little nervous and have a lot to say ...I tend to ramble away ....I'm trying not to do that right now :)
I will post details of my visit and also keep you all posted on how everything goes.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have questions or even just for a comment or Electronic Hug :)

Hi-congratulations! I've heard it time and time again-"best thing I ever did." And it's true! I'm only 8 weeks post. Some advice-if at all possible, take some vacation time, and have your husband take vacation too. It will be very hard to not pick up your kids, especially your little one, but you shouldn't for 6 weeks, I think. I rented an electric recliner to sleep in for the first month. It was a life saver. If your husband does everything, and I mean everything for the first few weeks, you'll be good. I really took it easy, and I'm healing so well. Of course your surgeon will give you instructions. It's much easier than I imagined. You'll feel lighter right away! Ask me anything; there are minute details I wasn't told, but lots of good answers on this site. : ) Take care!

Home recovering nicely. Don't be nervous. I had such a great experience. I so badly want to unwrap and take a peek but I will be good. Doc removed little over a pound from one side and 1 pound from the other. They are high and tight. Keep me posted on yours. I am excited for you.

Day surgery. In by 10.a and out by 3:30. Surgery was a breeze. Doc said it was the easiest surgery he ever did. Everything fit together like a puzzle. He has been doing surgery for over 60 years so he is a bit of a perfectionist. I am here for support for you. I am a surgical nurse so any question goes.

So good to know! Thank you so much for keeping me updated. I feel so relieved and less nervous. Now I am also eager to have mine done . I'm so happy you're doing well too. You know what? So my doctor already arranged for my first post op to be 2 weeks after. So I'm guessing I may not be getting drains. I don't even remember him mentioning drains at pre op. I am a little concerned about this you know. Question did ever suffer pains in the back from heavy breasts? Is it like instant relief? This is my reason for the surgery I want to look good but also I need this pains to go. I see people give reviews about how they look they hardly mention the back and shoulder pains

I had numbness in my left arm, pain in my neck and back. The numbness was from the straps digging into my shoulder. My left breast was significantly bigger than my right. I noticed relief the next day. Now mind you pain meds were on board but I am off meds now and no neck or back pain. Numbness is gone too. Now about the drains. My friend had a BR years ago and had no drains. She felt so good she decided to decorate her x-mas tree and her boobs turned black and blue. I was a surgical nurse for a Plastic Surgeon for years and she put drains in everyone. Some docs use them some don't. Doctors also use different kinds of drains. My doc went old school with his type of drains and needless to say it freaked my hubby out but I knew what was going on and was grateful for his choice in drains. (it's a hot mess) Removal of the old style (penrose) drain was pain free and very little to no bruising. Drains are put into place just to evacuate any additional blood that may collect post surgery and reduce swelling. Rule of thumb don't do anything just lay there and let everyone take care of themselves. Pain meds will make you feel invincible and you think hey I can vacuum the house its no big deal. DONT!! That is when you pop a vesicle and [RS bleep] goes south quickly. My advice is chill. Another bit of advice. Load up on fiber and a lot of it. Pick up stool softeners like Colace. Pain meds back you up and it can be uncomfortable. Lastly, drink lots and lots of water. Flushes the anesthesia out of your system faster and gets the old bowels hydrated to get a move on. Hope this helps. Can't wait to hear from you.

Bonus note: I have boob gap!! Squeee never had boob gap.

I will be thinking you tomorrow. I am doing great. Made the family banana bread yesterday and all was good. It felt good to get up and do something. My husband and I get usually get up every morning at 5: am to walk the dogs. I went right back in to my routine only half on Monday and Tuesday. Today I did a full walk and a walk around the block twice. Not too bad. Some slight pin prickles of pain but nothing to shake a stick at. Glad we became pen pals over our experience. Always wanted one as a kid. Good luck my bosom buddy. Haha Boob humor.

Hi @ashmom0316 I live in Calgary Alberta in Canada so this was covered by Provincial health Services - AHCIP. To get 100% coverage with the government, a doctor has to recommend you for breast reduction. If you live in Canada then you can do do as I did. Go to your family Dr and tell him the huge size is affecting your quality of life . And the DR will write you up for a surgery to be covered by the government

Good luck! I still can't feel the bottom half of my breast! Sorry to be a downer but my recovery did not go well. You will have zingers which are sharp pains from the nerves being cut. Rest, rest, rest.

Yesterday I clocked 36! I didn't want any presents or something special and just wanted to sleep in!!!
As a full time working wife and mom, my day couldn't have gone better! my sweet husband kept the kids occupied and I slept in till noon. I woke up to cake and lots of presents put together by them!!! Later in the evening we went to global fest finale and watched fireworks with friends.
I am so nervous about my upcoming surgery , yesterday was so filled up I didn't have a second to worry about it!

Call from Rocky View

Today I it a call from Rocky View hospital - just to get more information about me and also to verify my mailing address. The lady told me she will be mailing everything I need to know about my upcoming surgery to me. Soooo curious!!!
I'll put up whatever comes, if it may be of help to anyone.

I decided to take a vacation day just before my surgery as I feel I will be too nervous at work. I am already a bag of emotions as it is!

Can't believe I'm doing this -I haven't told my mum and my elder sisters. Don't want them to panic or try to talk me out of it.

I hope It goes successful then it will not be so bad when I eventually tell them. Phew!!!
