1980 facelift

ORIGINAL POST

1980 facelift

I underwent a facelift with this surgeon in 1/6/2021, and it was one of the most difficult and disappointing experiences of my life. I am sharing my experience so others can make a well-informed decision before choosing a surgeon.

I expected natural, rejuvenating results, but instead I was BOTCHED and was left with multiple visible scars. One major incision extended straight across my forehead, leaving a scar left to right side of my face that ultimately required two hair grafting transplant procedures in an attempt to conceal it. I also have a scars behind my ears where hair no longer grows because of the incisions, horrific stitching and healing process. The scarring around my ears, back of my hairline is so noticeable that I no longer feel comfortable wearing my hair up.

The procedure lasted approximately nine hours, and I remained awake under local anesthesia the entire time. Every reputable physician I spoke with stated, that was a serious red flag right there. Several lidocaine shots injected in my head, heart racing like if I was going to gave a heart attack on his table in that little office room in an office building (not an ambulatory hospital) on Sage road at the time, and he still wanted to talk to me and have an ingoing conversation while he was performing surgery on me. Seriously! No one should be awake for a 9 hour surgery face lift.

Personally, I found the experience physically, emotionally traumatic (PTSD) and mentally exhausting. Hearing conversations with him and his nurse throughout such a lengthy procedure only added to the stress and crazy emotions running down my spine awake during this surgery - You have no idea the horror I experienced.

I went back for a follow up with his team once I was able to get out, he then decided to microdermabrasion (at high speed) the scar he created across my forhead in hopes as he stated to remove the scar. Now keep in mind, I am still healing, the high speed microdermabrasion procedure only increased depth of the scar and increased redness, and healing time.

After this surgery, it was a long battle of crying, and soul searching. I finally sought a consultation with another board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Terry Dubrow - the botched doctor in Beverly Hills to discuss possible revision options. During that consultation, I was told that the facelift technique appeared an outdated 1980 facelift, which reinforced my concerns about the results I received. He just couldn't figure out why Dr. Athre did what he did.

He said a revision surgery would be too risky at the time to touch my face, and I was turned away politely.

I paid approximately $12,000 for this procedure with Dr. Athre. I chose him based on a recommendation from my late cousin. She later shared that she was also unhappy with her own results Rhinoplasty by Dr. Athre and ultimately underwent a revision procedure.

I have spent several years trying to repair the results of his botched facelift surgery, investing a significant amount of time, money, and emotional energy. Because of this experience, I now approach any corrective procedures with extreme caution, carefully researching every surgeon and treatment before moving forward. Although I have made significant improvements, I know I will never be able to completely undo the visible damage he caused.

I am posting my photos (before with the hideous scars he created, and after during the process of many years trying to correct his horrific work) because I believe prospective patients deserve to see my personal outcome before making such an important decision. ZOOM IN.

This review reflects my personal experience and opinion. I strongly encourage anyone considering cosmetic surgery to thoroughly research their surgeon, review before-and-after photos from multiple patients, obtain more than one consultation, and never choose a surgeon based on price alone. A lower cost can end up becoming far more expensive in the long run—financially, physically, and emotionally.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PHYSICIAN FOR ANY FACELIFT PROCEDURE. HE DOESNT EVEN DESERVE A STAR...

**The photos below also show my hair grafting journey to conceal the scar left by Dr. Athre. While the damage can't be undone, I can finally walk in public with confidence again.

Why didn't the hair transplant surgeon go completely over the white scar? Do you know you can have medical tattooing done on that scar? They tattoo it the same colour as your skin and it looks natural and is not very expensive. Try it!
