Surgery done done and doneeeee
$17,000
Hi guys! I've been meaning to update my review! I've just been busy recovering and exploring London! I'm also scared to update so soon incase it changes. Thank you so much for your prayers and positive thoughts, they seem to have worked! So far I'm completely in love with my nose, ion seems to have done everything he said he would and more. I LOVE THE GUY. He's such a good and kind person as well.... not your average surgeon at all. I just don't want to speak too soon incase things change, please please please keep the prayers flowing that they don't. As of right now I feel like me, and I can not put into words how amazing it feels after almost 3 years. P.s idk if you've all heard but Ion is starting up revisions again soon with a partner! So anyone who missed the cut before, here's your chance! Here's some pics so far! I'm 2 weeks post op today

Can you let me know what kind of graft he used on you ? I'm absolutely amazed.

I’m so happy for you. Your new nose already looks so good and I am excited to see it over the next 9 months. Congratulations!

So happy to finally hear that all is well.
HELLO again! I love your results, Dr Ion has done a fabulous job. Your nose looks lovely and that feeling you mention: to be feeling like "you" - that is the best wonderful choice going with Dr Ion - you sure sound to be in great spirits. We look forward to hearing from you on your recovery and progress. ( update on me, I have booked my revision rhinoplasty appointment with Dr Nettle here in Sydney, Australia for late April and am nervous too. I just cannot wait to begin my journey of getting what I originally wanted with surgery :-)

It's time
Please say a prayer for me if you can. I'm so scared. Thinking of all of you all the time and hoping you're getting closer to moving on. I haven't been updating frequently because I've been extremely stressed about this. I will try to update more frequently after. Please please keep me in your prayers, I would so appreciate it.

2 months 2 weeks until revision and I'm questioning the side morph a bit!
Hey guys! I know I say this every post lately but I AM NERVOUS. More nervous every day that passes and it's a horrible way to live! Just want this to be over and done with. Anyway, I've been looking at my side morphs a lot lately and I love them and think they're an improvement from what I have obviously, but the nostril still appears to be a little bit retracted and my tip may need slight de-rotation and possibly some length? I've made a new morph that actually looks closer to my birth nose which I would LOVE. In the morph (I'll attach below) the nostril is more down and the tip is less upturned and possibly a bit lengthened. I think Dr. Ions morph is very nice as well but I just see my old self more in my own morph I guess. I think I would be happy with his morph still because it is still an improvement, but might be happiest with this new morph I've created. I have a consult with Dr. ion on the 11th and I think I will show this to him. There's a few other things I've been thinking about lately as well, I think I would like more volume to my tip like before surgery and a bit more de-rotation to my tip so I have less nostril show and I possibly slight length? I'll just have to discuss with him as I'm not sure if any of this can be done and I want to keep the surgery as easy as possible for him. Please let me know what you think about my side morphs! Thinking of all of you going through the same nightmare as me x

You have been a huge help to me. This SAME thing has occurred after my cast came off 3 wks ago and my surgeon (who has 22 years and also craniofacial) is saying it's "just swelling" which I don't believe at all.
I can't concentrate on my kids, my life, anything. It's horrible.
Right now I am trying to get as many second opinions as possible. I am in the MidWest and can't see Dr. Ion, so I have to find someone in the Chicago or Indy area. Any recs? I also messaged you.

it is horrible and I'm very sorry for you. I highly recommend dr. Le in Baltimore, he is supposed to be one of the best!

I barely have to be honest :( I did some traveling, researched a lot, just tried to distract myself :( I know this is so hard, just stay around the ones you love xx

Thank you. I am only 3 wks in and I am just so upset. I have my operation reports but my surgeon is acting like it's just swelling. It was literally just like yours and I have a shadow over that curved side from the front :(

Just wondering why you chose Ion over consulting with Le? I had surgery with Dr. Le and highly recommend him.

K2424 3 weeks post surgery is just way too soon to expect to see what your nose will be like once all of the swelling and healing has resolved and done what it's supposed to. You'll have swelling for up to 12 months and some days it will drive you crazy and to the point of total obsession and distraction. Seriously, it's only been 3 weeks and you're getting second opinions? Just focus on your life and children and let your nose do what it's supposed to do. You sound like me after my rhino but I was straight back to work so I couldn't really waste time focusing on it. I'm 2 years 5 months post rhino and some days I still have internal swelling that interferes with my breathing. One of my best friends has had her nose done and 2 revisions (with years between each revision) and she said it can really take even 2-4 years for the total swelling to subside.
I think we all actually panic after rhino and wonder if it was the right choice and we obsess over every little millimeter afterwards. For me I just remembered that I hated my old nose and was so self-conscious, now I'm happy with my new nose but it took a lot of getting used to.

THE SWELLING IS ONE THING. However, if an individual ended up with a collapsed nasal bone, or curved nose post up - it is NOT related to swelling and will not resolve with time.

Thank you Always French. I am NOT 3 wks. I am now almost 3 MONTHS post op and have waited for swelling to go down and it's worsened.
2 separate top surgeons have confirmed I have asymmetrical cartilages, a dent in the tip from lack of cartilage, a hanging columella and I need projection and alar rim grafts.
I appreciate the concern. But this was a revision. I had a primary so I know how long it takes for swelling to go down...I waited 11 years for a revision and made a mistake going with a local doc who I found out later has done a handful of revisions in 25 years!
Big mistake. I am now looking into Yoo, Guyuron or Le to fix this mess.

I am not one to jump into surgery and again I waited 11 years.
My doctor here has apologized in person and by email and encouraged me to get second opinions. He admitted I needed my upper lateral cartilages fixed and that it isn't a ideal outcome. Now I have to wait 12-15 months total before anyone can attempt to correct it.

Always French my comment was not in response to you, so there's no need to get all aggressive and CAPS LOCK ON. I was responding to a comment by K2424 where it was stated that they were 3 weeks out... and 3 weeks or 3 months out THERE IS STILL A LOT OF SWELLING !!! There was no mention by this commentor if they had a collapsed nasal bone, etc.

Hi ladies no need for anyone to get upset :) There is definitely swelling. I agree.
But my doctor who did the surgery admitted there are issues and it's probably asymmetric upper lateral cartilage. He has only done a handful of revisions in 25 years and he didn't do any grafting.
He basically went in and just recontoured and slimmed it all down. So by doing that, things are a lot more noticeable than before asymmetry wise. By 3 months you should see the general shape of the nose and I have met with 2 surgeons who can both see the issues I am describing.
Yes it looks worse in photos but it's definitely there in person.
It's a long road and I wish everyone the best and hope we all have positive outcomes.
I am staying positive that whatever is wrong can be corrected at the 12-15 month timeframe.
As the swelling comes down more will be shown but until then I am going to enjoy my family and stay busy and try to stay positive! I was really depressed right after and still have some bad days, but surgery in general is very hard on the body and the recovery.
All the best!!
And good luck Alli we are rooting for you for a wonderful revision!

You need to be completely comfortable with your morph, but I think the Ion one is perfect. Maybe you’re just over thinking it and over analyzing because it’s getting close and you’re nervous? I TOTALLY understand though because I’m less than a month away from a major revision and I’m so scared!

i think the domes need to be splayed out more and th bridge built up not rotated down to get it more full. but that is my opinion being someone who lost my upturn when i was botched. i think dr ion is known for very attractive noses.

Hi Allison! I was wondering: did you have any tip work done? I was reading your story and it seems like all you wanted was to have a small hump taken down, but you ended up with nostril asymmetry/pinching/notching?

Your nose is stunning. You look perfect. I'm so happy for you.
