My desire for a tummy tuck started 28 years ago,...

My desire for a tummy tuck started 28 years ago, but rekindled 6 months ago after a 9 year abusive marriage. I went to Dr. Reish (Long Island Surgical) because of his expertise in minimal incision tummy tucks and he was in my city (New York). He was actually my 2nd choice. But he quickly won me over at the consultation, because of his friendly and warm smile and caring demeanor. I opted in to having him do my surgery and paid my $1000 deposit. We booked my surgery date for 4/25/17. My pre-op was scheduled for April 4th. Because Dr. Reish's office only participates with one surgery financing company in which I did not get approved for, my only option was to raise the money. Also, Dr. Reish's office requires the balance of your surgery payment on the day of your pre-op, no exceptions. Therefore, prior to my pre-op appointment, I notified Dawn, the patient coordinator and let her know I was running into a financial crunch and would not have the balance by the pre-op date and asked if there were any other options. There weren't any. She rescheduled my surgery for May 19th, with pre-op being April 2. I had most of my money except $3,000 of the $11,000 that I owed, and assured Dawn that I would have the last $3,000 within the week. I begged her to ask the Dr. or the powers that be, if they could please allow me to have my pre-op and I would have my money by the next week; I just needed 1 more week to get the last $3,000. I was told flat out no. I was then told if I would give another $1,000 they could secure me a date for June 8th which was a whole month later than I really wanted to have surgery. I really don't think it's fair to require me give an additional deposit. I was told if I don't give the additional $1,000 deposit I would lose my first $1,000 deposit. I am thoroughly disappointed that this whole experience just boiled down to the money only. And now I am out $1,000 and the struggle I began with was just exacerbated by Dr. Reish's office.
