Day 1 & 2 I could eat but it was bland. Day 3 I got a foul smell and taste instead of the foods real taste. Most sweet things like yogurt, fruit, toast aren't so bad but I haven't eaten a meal in a week. It all smells and tastes the exact same. can't be near food and cant walk through town without feeling sick at every smell including cigarettes, perfume so I can't socialise and I've lost a lot of weight already. took antibiotics for ulcers presumed tonsillitis on day 2 also. What's happening :(
My full sense of smell has not returned following my surgery over two years ago. Is there anything that can be done to get it back? Right now, its as if my nose is stuffed up all the time and I cannot fully taste or smell my food and other things.
I went to my family doctor and told me today that i had an infection in my nose, caused by smoking, did i ruin the whole operation by continued smoking? Do i need an other operation? My nose still hurts when i touch it and right now i have a very bad taste in my mouth, it's all going down from my nose, from the hospital they did tell me to stop smoking but i smoked anyway cause i thought it wouldn't be effected much, i don't know what i was thinking
Hello, I have been having problems with my nose (congestion and sinus infections etc) for about four years now and had a septoplasty and diathermy of my inferior turbinates 10 days ago. I was wondering though is it normal to have no taste or smell in one nostril? If I cover my left nostril I can't taste or smell but I can when I cover my right nostril. This has been like this since well before my surgery but should the surgery have helped this? Many thanks
Hi all, I have quite a bad deviated septum (at least i think it is that) that blocks my right nostril almost entirely (if i look up i see a red mass with a tiny gap down the right hand side) - my external nose crooks to the left. Anyway i've noticed that i cant taste as well recently, certain foods taste blander & i cant smell that great, its really getting me down &im worried its something sinister causing it rather than my deviated septum. If the deviation is the cause can septoplasty fix it?
