I started 5% topical minoxidil + finasteride and started getting fantastic results after 4 months. I stopped the minoxidil for 3 months while continuing finasteride and I began shedding a significant amount of hair after 2 months. I've now been on 2.5mg oral minoxidil for a month and I'm still experiencing a lot of shedding. Is this normal? I'm really worried the oral minoxidil won't bring back the gains I got from the topical solution... Any help would be so appreciated.
I have been use minoxidil for 6-7 months now, at first I did experience the shedding, and hairs grow back since then. But now it is shedding again, and worst the ever before. I read a lot peoples blog about the second shedding. Some said it will grow back, some said will not. I am still keep using the minoxidil, and I just want to know is the second shedding normal? Will the hair grow back? Is the minoxidil shedding cycle real? Will there be next shedding? Thank you so much!
Hi, Ive consistently used 5mg oral minoxidil to treat my hair loss since January 2022. For a lot of that time, I took the 5mg all at once. Recently I switched to 2.5 in the morning and 2.5 at night. Will this hurt my hair progress? I cant find any good information about dosing, and my dermatologist suggested it didnt matter. Ive seen a chart suggesting 5mg at once causes a higher blood concentration, but minoxidil has a short half life.
Hi.. 1. Age 34 yrs male, using Minoxidil 5% twice a day. 2. After application i have dandruff like white flakes on my scalp which looks very unhygienic. Although I am using 'CANDID B' lotion (Clotrimazole+Beclomethasone) but that does'nt help much. 3. I am also using Tab BIOTINE once a day. Please advice....
I stopped using minoxidil after 16 days , I runned a wet finger with not even a drop of the 5% topical solution with minoxidil molecule on one eyebrow once a day ,worried now if I will loose healthy hair the molecule applied or permanently damaged the hair there , or never recover from the shedding phase.
Hello, hair loss Doctors. Can low dose oral minoxidil help with alopecia areata? Also can it also be taken as a preventative as well to future alopecia areata spots? I know it's meant for genetic hair loss but can it help prevent alopecia areata as well? Does minoxidil have any affect on the immune cells that attack the follicles in alopecia areata? Thank you
I experienced a particularly traumatic and stressful event near the end of last year (late November 2014). About 3 months after the event, my hair began falling out drastically and all over. I experienced significant loss, such that large handfuls at a time would come out. My dermatologist stated that Minoxidil would help, and that I could discontinue use once my hair grew back since the hair loss is considered temporary/stress related. Is this correct?
