I don't really like the idea of grinding/shaving down (IPR (inter-proximal reduction)) a perfectly healthy, solid tooth...and I only have 2 weeks until my follow-up appointment to discuss with my orthodontist. Sorry to hear that. By any chance are you a grinder? If so, it might be a contributing factor.
If what you say is true, consider asking your doctor to rebond the brackets and they should stay!
