I may require 'slight grinding' (IPR) of tooth to make room for tooth to move forward...Is this a viable option? Shawn ';0(

Let's talk about Interproximal Reduction (IPR) first.  Studies show no long term senstivity, or increase chance of getting cavities on teeth that have had IPR.  Additionally, IPR can really range from as little as .1 mm to as large as .5 mm (or more) per tooth.  That's a pretty small amount of enamel.  That being said, I would consult with or orthodontist to find out how much IPR is planned for, and to discuss other options.There are ofcourse other options to make space, but I am not sure what options would be available in your case as I do not have any diagnostic records.  Other options to make space include expansion, proclination, and extraction of permanent teeth.  It really depends on your case.I would express your concerns to your orthodontist, to find out the pros and cons of each option.  Good luck!

Do not worry about IPR on your teeth. It is done all the time. It does take off a little enamel but will no increase tooth loss. I do this on alot of my patients. It is easy and routine procedure. A great option instead of extraction of a tooth. Feel confident !!
