My front teeth are chipped and yellow, can I get them whitened? (photo)

My teeth are chipped and yellow. I gave up smoking 7 weeks ago and promised myself I would get them fixed if I gave up smoking. Can I get these teeth whitened (will it work)? Or do I need to get the chips fixed first?

Congratulations on quitting smoking - that is huge!   First and foremost you are going to want to get a cleaning - once your gums are less inflamed - the chips will be able to be fixed.  It will be best to bleach before you get the teeth fixed actually - we want the composite resin used to match your teeth - and if we did them first and then you bleached - the filling portion would stick out as it won’t bleach like your teeth. Your teeth may whiten with professional whitening solution, but most likely, some of the staining will not resolve with that alone. You may consider cosmetic bonding or veneers for a long term solution.
