Dear cinoemma,Thank you for posting your question on Real Self.I think at this point you realized that you do not want to use hot water to clean your aligners. No worries. Call your providing doctor and they will order you a new set of aligners. They may even move you to aligner #2 depending on how long you were wearing the first set and what types of movements were happening. In the future, clean the alingers with luke warm water, scrub them with a toothbrush and use anti-bacterial soap or liquid dish detergent. Invisalign also offers some cleaning options as well.I hope that this helps and good luck!Best,Dr. Jenn
Hello There,So sorry to hear about your aligners. We always tell our patients the best way to clean your aligners is to use a tooth brush and toothpaste to clean them, Invisalign cleaning crytals, or FreshGuard(denture cleaner found at local pharmacy stores with luke warm water.Since it is your first set, call your Invisalign provider and have them order you a replacement aligner. There should be no extra cost to you, but every office has their own policy. If this were to happen to you again or if you lost a tray during your treatment please rememeber to wear your last active aligner to hold your teeth in place until you receive the replacement tray.Good Luck and hope this information helps!! : )
Please call your orthodontist/dentist to schedule an appointment ASAP to have new impressions (molds) taken of your teeth to fabricate new retainers. Unfortunately, once the plastic has melted, this cannot be repaired.
Your dentist can replace them ($) or you can try on the second set to see if you can move ahead. Take your Tylenol when you do.
