Can I continue to exercise with ruptured implants?

Implant rupture is not a surgical emergency and can be addressed in an elective fashion.

Most silicone ruptures are silent and are typically diagnosed long after the initial insult.

With regards to your specific question, there is no need to discontinue exercise/physical activity. In all likelihood, you have been exercising with ruptured implants (without any knowledge) for quite some time.

As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

I understand your concern. If you have implant rupture, then It should be removed or replaced as soon as possible because of possible side-effects. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

Your implants may have been ruptured for a while, but I suggest wearing a good support bra when you exercise. The intracapsular rupture is not a problem and only noticed by X-ray. Bring your implant information with you to the consultation, for your implant company may have a warranty for ruptured implants. Abbvie (Allergan) and Mentor both do.
