Can 6 years of hair loss from seborrheic dermatitis be reversed?

I'm a 24 year old female with seborrheic dermatitis. The time I notice my hairloss was 6 years ago but now it's gotten to the point were it's visible. I've always had an extremely itchy scalp with a burning feeling to it. I had brushed it off just guessing it was dandruff. I went to a hair specialist and he told me I had seborrheic dermatitis and that was keeping my hair from growing. He said all my hair will grow back once I treated it. Will it grow back ? Even after not growing for 6 years?
