Wait Time Between Laser Tattoo Removal Sessions?

Thank you for your question. Yes it is recommended to wait 4-6 weeks between laser tattoo removal treatments but waiting longer doesn't hurt.  It just takes longer to get the tattoo removed. It's shouldn't effect the long term results.

Typically, repeat treatments are necessary depending on the size, location, color(s), quality of the tattoo ink, and depth of the ink in the skin. Tattoos on the foot and ankle usually take the longest to remove.

It is absolutely okay to wait longer between sessions of laser tattoo removal. But very often, people are in a hurry to get the ink removed or re inked. The minimum interval is my practice is 6-8 weeks. Waiting longer, in my experience, actually gives better results with lesser sessions. You will lose nothing but time, but if that's not a concern, do wait longer between sessions. 

At my practice, Cape Fear Aesthetics, we generally recommend that you wait at least 4-6 weeks between tattoo removal sessions.  This gives the skin time to heal and provides a reduced risk of scarring.  The longer you wait between treatments, the more healing will occur.  Longer wait times between treatments shouldn't affect the long term results; it just might take you longer to get that result you desire.
