Already had a Tummy tuck, now weight loss surgery?

2 years ago I had a tummy tuck and breast augmentation. The mommy make-over to speak, however, now I am considering gastric sleeve to help with weight loss. I'm 5ft9in and just about 247. Not too bad, however, I struggle with type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea. I'm wondering how my previous tummy tuck will effect me getting this surgery?

Just this morning I did a sleeve on a patient that had a previous tummy tuck.  Yes, you can have the gastric sleeve if you have a history of a tummy tuck.  Sometimes the gastric sleeve may be a little more challenging because the tummy tuck creates a smaller space to work.  I have probably done about 30 patients with a previous history of tummy tuck.  It can definitely be done safely and with good results.  By the way, the gastric sleeve is a metabolic procedure that can stop your type two diabetes and sleep apnea within days of the surgery.

Hello, I hope you are well. Based con your stated weight and height yur calculatd BMI is 36.5, which classifies you as Obese type II. Your BMI, in addition to the comorbidities you mentioned, very possibly make you eligible for bariatric surgery. Your previous plastic surgery would not contraindicate any o these procedures. However, you would need to be evaluated by a bariatric surgeon in order to determine correctly which one you qualfy for. I hope this answer was helpful. Your previous tummy tuck will make it slightly more difficult to do weight loss surgery, but you can still have it done.  Sadly, you did the operations in the wrong order.  It's best to lose weight first; that way the plastic surgeon can give you a much nicer abdominoplasty, and also do a better breast reconstruction.  The plastic surgery is also easier and less risky if done after the weight loss.  An ethical plastic surgeon would have questioned you about the possibility that you would want weight loss surgery, and then suggested that you wait to have the plastic surgery until after you were at your target weight.
