I'd like a second opinion on my Invisalign treatment please. Unhappy with progress. (Photo)

Question

I'm on my second refinement (3 more aligners to go). The canines still stick out too much but my dentist says my teeth are aligned if you look at them from underneath and it's because they're so big and fat that they stick out and there's nothing anyone can do. My laterals don't seem to be flash with my two front teeth either. Any advice would be appreciated because I just don't believe that I paid thousands to end up with a mediocre result like this or is my dentist right?

You are right in your assessment that this is very unsatisfactory treatment. 
You did not pay for teeth that are straight when viewed from underneath, you paid for a nice smile.
Your dentist probably does not have the experience with straightening teeth to deliver the result you want.
I can tell from his response to your concern that he is not capable of finding a solution to a problem that he can not even see!  Remember, he essentially set the teeth up to look like this.    His idea of a nice smile and yours are not compatible.  You will never be happy with any result because you will always wonder how good it could have looked if you had gone to someone who really knew what they were doing.  
Get all of your money back plus an additional 20%  for your trouble.  (consider missed work, additional missed work for re treatment, discomfort, time spent worrying  that things don't look right, and then being upset enough have to post to this site looking for help).  
Then find and orthodontist, not a dentist, who does good work with both braces and invisalign and see them.
