I started to use Finasteride(1 mg ED) 20 days ago. I started to get gynecomastia symptoms. That is why I quit Symptoms began on day 12. 1. I did not develop any lumps behind the nipple. Will this feelings (gyno like) go? Although I have stopped using Finasteride, can I develop a lump by time? 2. My hair is not so bad. Will my shedding (it is not agressive) continue in it's normal course after I stop taking Finasteride? Will I experience more shedding than usual (If I never use Finasteride)?
Answer: Can finesteride cause gynecomastia? there is no way that finesteride causes your gynecomastia in a few days. I suggest you see an expert. if you have lump/pain this should be removed surgically, we do this everyday in our practice. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Gynecomastia symptoms after using Finasteride Noticing gynecomastia symptoms after using finasteride is seen rarely, but if you noticed these symptoms, it is better to stop taking the medication. Gynecomastia has different causes. You might have developed these symptoms because of finasteride, but after stopping the use of the medication, these should go away. If you notice pain, swelling, tenderness in the breast area or nipple discharge, I recommend you seeing a doctor.Your hair loss process depends on the hair loss pattern you have. If you have male pattern baldness and you don't prevent hair loss,it might get worse. If the hair loss continues,I recommend seeing an MD for evaluating your hair loss pattern.

Answer: Gynecomastia with finasteride I don’t know your whole story so I can’t answer specifics about your shedding. Your shedding could stay the same or get worse or get better. If you have underlying telogen effluvium or seborrheic dermatitis that is clearly going to affect answers to these questions. Also if you have strong genes for male balding, then yes shedding can get worse. This has nothing to do with stopping finasteride but rather than male balding itself. Now to what we know about gynecomastia from finasteride. It probably occurs in about 1 in 300 men. It can be one sided or both when it starts but is usually one sided. All of the studies suggest that when the drug is stopped immediately when the gynecomastia is noted or symptoms are noted, most men do not go on to develop issues and things reverse back to normal. Of course, there are another 20 reasons for having gynecomastia other than finasteride so these should always be reviewed with a doctor as well. It would be exceedingly rare for breast issues to continue after a male has stopped finasteride at day 20.
