I am 2 weeks post extraction. Hole is still open. Pain at night. Still quite severe. Extraction, an infection removed. I had unbelievable pain for 1 week. Dentist said it is infected. Was given antibiotics 5 days, mouthwash, packed clover oil thing. No need for painkillers during the day but when I sleep it hurts just as bad as before.. please tell me it will close! Advise on how to avoid infection..I finished antibiotics course.

For total wound closure it could take upto 3 to 4 weeks. As long as there is no discomfort you don't have to worry at all. It appears perfectly a normal healing
Dry socket is an area of exposed jaw bone. The area must start bleeding again in order to re-form a clot and start the healing process. If this does not happen, the jaw bone can start to die (necrosis). See your wisdom tooth dentist!
