Is there a way to prevent or minimize the under eye bags/puffyness that occurs as we age?

Is it possible to prevent or minimize the under eye bags that form as we age. For example, can diet, excercise, retin A, sunscreen, etc slow down the formation of eye bags as one ages?

The short answer is no, although there are various products on the market that are aimed to minimize the above.  Causes of under eye bags/ puffiness include age, genetics, lifestyle habits (such as drinking/ smoking), etc.

The presence of eye bags is often inherited and if you inherited them there is little to prevent them from happening.  However  lifestyle and diet in particular can contribute to eye bags.  A diet that is high in salt  as well as excessive alcohol consumption can cause fluid retention and make the eye bags look worse.
