Question

I have braces on to fix a deep over bite, they have. been on for 7 months now. My face has elongated, temples have sunken in and cheeks have sunken in. I would like to take them off (my treatment was for 24 months). Currently I also have gaps between my teeth as a result of treatment. Will my face and teeth go back to normal ? how much will it return to normal ? Also i had a beautiful smile and face, i was simply told that because i had premolar removed in my teens that i would lose my teeth

It's understandable that you're worried about these changes in your facial appearance and smile. Orthodontic treatment can sometimes temporarily alter facial structure, particularly in the early stages as your teeth and jaws shift. This is usually a normal part of the treatment process, and in many cases, the face regains its usual contours as treatment progresses.
Since you've been in treatment for about seven months, you may be seeing some of the mid-treatment changes. The gaps between your teeth are likely part of the overall alignment strategy and should close as treatment continues. However, if you’re uncomfortable or feeling that the changes are affecting your appearance significantly, it may be worth discussing this with your orthodontist. They can evaluate your progress, provide insight into how your facial structure might evolve with the remaining treatment, and potentially adjust the plan to address any specific aesthetic concerns you have.
If you decide to end treatment early, please know that it may lead to unfinished alignment and retention issues, which could prevent your teeth from settling into a stable, healthy position.
