How to correct or reduce marionette lines at 35.

Question

I have marionette lines due to an IPL treatment I had in August. My upper cheeks flattened and it has resulted in these ugly lines by my mouth. I have a square jaw to begin with so filling the lines is not an option as I don't want to look bulky. As I'm only 35 I'm looking for something conservative. Would Voluma in my cheeks help at all? Thanks in advance for your time.

Without photos, I can only answer in the most general of terms. Volumizing the cheeks can certainly help to restore the more inverted triangular appearance of the youthful face. And secondarily, the lift provided to the cheeks can lessen smile line folds and even to sometimes a substantial extent improve marionette lines. As a rule, these days few injectors, except for the most inexperienced, still "chase after wrinkles" by directly filling them. Instead, physicians expert in nonsurgical rejuvenation techniques using injectable volumizers and fillers employ them to provide lift to the appropriate areas, such as the cheeks, to restore proper projection and light reflection, and to recontour and reshape the face in such as way that certain wrinkles and folds may be improved without even touching them. Voluma XC is an excellent choice for this purpose and is my volumizing filler of preference in my Upper East Side Manhattan practice. In my Israel satellite facility, where a far greater number of fillers and volumizers are available, I would opt for Stylage XXL for this purpose. I am sorry you had the problem with the IPL. Unfortunately, I have found the results of many of our energy-based treatments, including IPLs, fraxels, ultrasound and radiofrequency devices to be variable, inconsistent, underwhelming and in general a lot more device manufacturer backed marketing hype than hard science. ]Make sure you consult with a board certified aesthetic physician with experience and expertise in nonsurgical facial rejuvenation, and of course ask to see his/her before and after photos before proceeding.

I suggest a formal consultation for facial sculpting using fillers and combinations.  I often use sculptra for lifting of the face as the foundation and voluma/lyft/radiesse for large volume filling and lifting as a layer.
