This is a very good question as the girls who asked about the 5 main companies. The only silicone implants currently approved in the US are made by Mentor and Allergan. In the past when we have come across physicians using implants that were not approved or that were discounted implants we have seen problems with patients having either earlier than predicted rupture rates or no warranty what so ever. I would make sure your plastic surgeon is only using implants from the above two companies.
There are only two major silicone implant manufacturers in the US and Canada: Allergan and Mentor. Both have their merits.
In the USA, that question is easy, there are only two poplular implant companies MENTOR and ALLERGAN. There may be other companies available for custom implants but these are used in relatively minimal numbers at t the current time.
The two major implant manufacturers in this country are Allergan (previously independent company known as McGhan and the Inamed) and Mentor (now under Johnson and Johnson Co.) and both produce silicone breast implants. My personal experience over 24 years is that Allergan's implants are significantly superior to those produced by Mentor and this includes both silicone and saline. I found the failure rates of both types of implants to be much higher in Mentor's than Allergan's and have discontinued usage of its breast implant products years ago.
Regarding: "What the Top 5 Silicone Brands Used by Surgeons? " I am ASSUMING you are referring to Breast Implants rather than other silicone products. In 2011, the 2 largest breast implant companies in the world are MENTOR and Allergan (whose implants are termed Natrelle). Both have life time warranties on their implants. I would not recommend you use other implants in the US. Dr. Peter Aldea
In the United States, there are currently only two companies that manufacture breast implants. They are Allegan and Mentor.
Mentor (Johnson and Johnson) and Allergan (formerly Inamed/ McGhan) are the two implant manufacturers in the United States. Your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon will have a preference on which type of implants he/she chooses to use. Best wishes!
Thank you for your question. If you find that your breast is tight and particularly if you went up a few cup sizes, then breast massage will help your implants settle. I typically recommend waiting a week as it sooner may be too uncomfortable. However, if you can tolerate it earlier, then you...
It is very easy to be confused by this measuring system. Cup sizes are only used as estimates for clothing. Although the measuring technique for determining cup size is precise, the results of these measurements are not. Let me give you an example; weight is a very accurate measurement. However...
Every 1000 cc of water equala 2.2 pounds. Doing the math this means that 400 cc equals slighlty less than 14 ounces (silicone weighs less than water) or .875 pounds. Multiply that by two and it equals 1 and 3/4 pounds or 28 ounces,
Size is a complex decision that is not only based upon your height, weight and current cup/bra size but ALSO on also on your breast diameter, waist, shoulder, and skin envelope measurements. These can only be assessed in person during a consultation. A good place to start is using my "Find...
Remember, breast implant volume (in cc's) is related to both the shape ("profile") and the diameter of the implant. A 100 cc implant has a very tiny diameter (width)....probably too tiny for most average 5'7" women. If we measure the width of your breast now, it's probably around 12 cm across...
The discussion shows you that all implants ripple and the amount you are cognizant of depends on the amount of breast tissue you have to cover the implant. It is true that silicone ripples less than saline and is less palpable. The new 410 implant is probably an excellent choice but is not...
