Top lip Juvederm filler not dissolving. Is it possible to get it dissolved again?(Photo)

Question

I had my lips injected with Juvederm 12 months ago. The vermillion border was overfilled which I had dissolved within a month but the hyalase didn't get it all. The doctor said it will most likely be scarring and won't go dissolve. Is this true? I hate it and want it to go flat to how it used to be, as it looks strange. I will get it dissolved again if it can be. Please help!

Filler migration, swelling, and granulomas can cause significant discomfort and cosmetic ramifications. Our office specializes in the use of enzymes and filler reversal techniques without hyaluronidase to help improve the results of botched cosmetic fillers, whether caused by Juvederm, Restylane, or foreign fillers. Our plastic surgery institute provides expertise in filler removal. We begin by examining the facial fillers and assessing the likelihood of fluctuance or liquid volumization. If appropriate, we use Hylenex, or other filler reversal agents to reduce swelling and filler migration. Hylenex can be targeted into the areas of concern using multiple layered injection techniques. If the filler does not completely resolve, then additional concentrations may be employed. The technique has the potential to reduce the filler and may slightly impact normal hyaluronic acid. Treatments are repeated and results can improve immediately and with time.

Dear  lemonlop,
generally speaking, Juvederm dissolves in that period of time. However, if there is still some filler, you can use hyaluronidase to remove it.

From the single photo submitted, i do not see any issues with your lips. Having said that, if you have concerns, i would recommend you have an in-person evaluation by an experienced injector who can help you to address any areas of concerns.

The very dark photograph you submitted does not show anything that I see as abnormal in your lips. You need to be valuated in person and hopefully by a plastic surgeon who can determine what is going on with your lips and why it is that you are dissatisfied with their appearance. Juvederm does not leave scar tissue after it has been injected into the lips. And yes, you can repeat hyaluronidase injections. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City plastic surgery

Hi there,Without a physical evaluation it would be to hard to tell.  If you have had fillers over a long period of time and have dissolved fillers in the past this could be the case as filler doesn't generally last 12 months.  See an expert injector/ another opinion.Best of luck...
