Numbness, pain and no muscle movement after hyaluronidase injection. Will this go away? (photo)

Question

I had a second round of hyaluronidase placed on each cheeks due to imflammation , overfill of juvederm, also 8 units of botox just on my forehead same day. A week later my left cheek is swollen, very painful, numb and my upper left lip will not move. (Looks like I had a stroke). I have had botox for the pass 5 yrs no issues. The first round of hyaluronidase didn't to this.

This looks like you may have bells palsy, I suggest you see an expert. This is likely not due to the injections if this is limited to one full side of your face . Hyaluronidase would not cause this. Best, Dr. Emer.

Thanks for your inquiry.  It is important to have a checkup. Not sure if this is related to your injection, previous Botox to this area, or something new.Hyaluronidase should not affect lip function or movement.  The nerves that control lip function come from lateral by you lower ear.  Muscles that lift your upper lip come from above and Botox injected in the cheeks could affect your lip function, but not likely hyaluronidase.

I know of no particular Hyaluronidase effect that should account for your symptoms. They nay be completely unrelated. Please be sure to discuss with your doctor and go from there. Good luck!
