First time getting Botox. Once it wears off, if I do it again will I have the same issue? (Photo)

I am 30 years, and got masseter botox for the first time to slim face. I see folds in my face on the right side especially. In pictures its noticible. Like someone pushed in my cheeks. Got 25 units each side. I can't smile fully and i do feel a slight numbness on my right side on my cheek. Is there anything I can do to speed up wearing it off (been 1.5 mths)? Are there other treatments that is non invasive? If i do it again will it happen again? Not sure if its my face or the injector issue

This should resolve after about 3 months once Botox wears off. I would try another treatment in the future. This most likely won’t happen again.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photos, the Botox was likely inadvertently injected into your right risorius muscle. The risorius muscle sits directly above the masseter and helps to create a smile by pulling the corner of the mouth outward and upward. When Botox relaxes this muscle, it will temporarily affect the symmetry of your smile as it limits the ability to smile widely on the affected side. This is a great question! It appears as though one of your muscles used for smiling was affected when the masseter was being treated, causing your smile to pull less on that side. The good news is that it wears off. To speed up this process, you can try to use the muscles more, i.e chewing gum, chewing hard foods, etc.

The facial differences that you described such as the folds and inability to fully smile can be related to your Botox treatment.  Speak with your injector about your concerns so your future treatments can be adjusted.  There is no way to speed up the longevity of the Botox.  The results generally fade gradually over three to four months.
