Jaw surgeries related with orthodontic treatment is often planned by an orthodontist and performed by oral surgeon under the supervision of the orthodontist. Wearing braces are normally included in whole treatment planning. In general braces are applied prior to the surgery to get the tooth alignment ready for post surgery position, and this continues after surgery for fine adjustments.
