The choice of Materials is always important- And I would say that an experienced cosmetic dentist would easily be able to mask any underlying shade problems. My recommendation would be to STAY AWAY from Zirconia veneers- although they would easily hide any underlying shade, they have the WEAKEST bond strength. Feldspathic porcelain, or Emax will bond much better, and some opaquers can be used to block the dark colors.
