Should I do IPR to correct my midline? (photo)

Question

I have braces on for about 2 years. My midline is off and I consulted my orthodontist. He said that he could do IPR to fix it but it will cut off my enamel and make it more sensitive. Should I do it? Do you think my braces ready to be taken off? My braces are taken off next month. Should I ask for him to file my teeth? Thank you.

While it is true, irreversible removal of enamel followed by orthodontic movement CAN shift a midline, there is a concern that the teeth will STAY shifted.  Moving a tooth 4 mm is one thing, and any "settling" after braces are removed is insignificant, up to 1/2 mm.  This won't be noticed.  But shifting a tooth 1/2 mm may not last, even with wearing a retainer.The enemy of good is great.  Becoming too much of a perfectionist often leads to disappointment.  I suggest being done with braces and ignoring the minor midline issue.
