Steri strips vs glue for my partial mastectomy?

Hi there, if you're allergic to steristrips, glue or dermabond is perfectly fine. It's to protect your incision sites and will allow you to shower a couple days after the surgery. At the very least, the surgeon can try a small spot of skin glue in a different area to see how your skin reacts before applying everything. The alternative would be other types of dressings (gauze, xeroform), but may be more tedious to manage vs skin glue.

Medical adhesives, like Dermabond, are wound closure devices which can provide an additional layer of strength to a wound during the early phases of healing.  Sutures are used below the skin and the glue serves as a final layer of closure.   In some cases, these products may also inhibit bacteria.   Surgical adhesives are very common and are frequently referred to as medical grade super glue.    Some of the most common products are Dermabond, skinstitch, Derma+flex, and GluStitch.
