Very blurry after LASIK and I cannot cry. Is this normal?

question 1: I had laysik surgery done 4 days ago. I was farsighted so my doctor did an over correction. I now see clear up close but after about a foot or so everything is extremely blurry... Is this normal? When will I be able to see and drive again? Question 2: Also I was upset about something and started to cry however I am unable to produce tears is this normal? I feel like my vision is worse than before

It is very common after farsighted (hyperopic) LASIK to be somewhat overcorrected and nearsighted in the early postoperative period. There is a high chance your correction will regress somewhat and your vision should improve. It can take up to three months for changes to stabilize.  In the meantime, if things are extremely blurry far away, consider getting a temporary prescription to use for driving and rest assured that there is a very high probability this will be a temporary situation. As far as your inability to cry, dry eye is common after surgery and liberal use of artificial tear is recommended. As your eyes heal, tear production typically goes back to normal.

It is common for farsighted patients to be over corrected after their procedure and therefore have some difficulty with their distance vision.  The description about being blurry beyond a foot, however, seems extreme and I don't see how you can be expected to function.  Please see your surgeon and ask if he can temporarily put you in some soft contacts or eyeglasses during your recovery.Dry eyes are also a common, temporary problem during recovery and if lubricating eye drops are not sufficient to keep you comfortable, your surgeon can help with other measures.
