Is it normal for Spironolactone to affect your monthly cycle?

cvoisin
I am currently on a prescription of Spironolactone of 50 mg/once a day for hormonal acne. I am also on a 0.180 mg TriNessa birth control daily. Once I began the Spironolactone 2 weeks ago I began to spot and have been since, even though I wasn't on my sugar pills. My period now seems a lot heavier with a lot more side effects.
