Why does my tooth hurt 2 weeks after a filling?

I had a filling done 2 weeks ago on my bottom molar. The cavity was low and close to the gum. It still hurts to bite on food 2 weeks later. Should I be worried?

Sometimes if the filling was close to the nerve of your tooth, you can have pain to biting similar to what you're experiencing. Worst case scenario is that you could need root canal therapy, which means the nerve of your tooth couldn't recover from the trauma of placing the filling. It's also possible that the way the filling was placed is irritating to the tooth, or the type of filling is irritating, in which case replacing it might be the answer. Either way, talk to your dentist to see what he/she thinks.
