The only thing is, I don't have the gummy smile that many have as a symptom but my teeth and bite were off and I have invisalign now which I have been doing over a year now. My face just seems long, and asymmetrical. Thank you in advance for your time.
Answer: Possbile Long Face Syndrome ... #DrSarahThompson Hello Charles,From your appearance in this photo, you would be a candidate for further investigation to determine if you truly have LFS. Associated signs would be enlarged tonsils, asthma, nasal allergies, mouth breathing, protruding and crowded teeth, high arching palate and flattened cheeks. It's impossible for me to determine all of this from a closed mouth picture, but I would examine your mouth for this syndrome, if you were in my dental chair. The good this is that whether you have it or not, it really doesn't matter because it does not hurt or harm your life in any way. If you are concerned about appearance only, then there are cosmetic things that you can do to alter you appearance, but actually, I don't think that you need anything done to your face. Good luck and I hope this helps. Follow me if you have more questions.Sarah Thompson, DMD

Answer: Long face syndrome A long face is usually seen when the lower jaw continues to grow downwards and the distance from the base of the nose to the chinpoint is longer than eyebrow to nose base, having said that it is not usually a problem for many patients.invisalign is great if the tooth movements involve tipping teeth and where the teeth can actually bite together .in LFS one tends to find an open or lesser bite.I agree that any dentist with good experience would be the one to treat you.dr at Kumar

Answer: Do I have long face syndrome the shape of a person's face is like most things in the body...variable like height or weight. Some people are abnormally tall but we would not say they had a tall syndromeThat said...yes you have a very long narrow face and this can cause various orthodontic issues. Make sure you are seeing a well trained orthodontist...not a general dentist for orthodontic treatment
