Interested in the best method to revise/remove post surgical scars. Feel like cords and are itchy and painful. My areola which separated during the healing phase are now jagged around the edges and look disfigured. The right areola feels like there is more breast tissue inside of it, while the one on the left looks and feels flat. Is there anything that can be done to correct this and if so what is the best route to take. I've used the recommended scar creams. Thank you!
Answer: Breast Reduction Thank you for your questions and your photos. Your best option would be to schedule a consultation with a Plastic Surgeon so they can more closely examine your breasts and scars in person. From there they will be able to provide you with their professional opinion as to which procedure(s) will best help you achieve your goals. Good Luck.

Answer: What's the best method of correction for my breast reduction and lift 9 months ago? Thanks for your question and photos. I'm sorry you are not happy with your results. It appears that you have hypertrophic scarring around your nipple areolar complex and the IMF. This can be a tough problem to treat because of the high recurrence rate and you may have a predisposition to hypertrophic scars and keloid scars. Scars can take up to a year to mature. It may be best to wait for the scar to mature and then consider scar revision. In the interim, steroid injections can be used to soften and flatten the scars. However, steroids should be used with caution in the periareolar area because it can cause hypopigmentation (lightening of the skin). My response to your question/post does not represent formal medical advice or constitute a doctor patient relationship. You need to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon in order to receive a formal evaluation and develop a doctor patient relationship.

Answer: What's the best method of correction for my breast reduction and lift 9 months ago? Thank you for your pictures and questions. Sorry to hear about your results. You show a predilection for scar development, so that makes any revision options prone to having a return of the scar, and possibly worse. I would wait at least 12 months before considering any scar revision. You can try steroid injections in the meantime. Once a year has gone by, go to a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.Best of luck!Dallas R. Answer: Scars are tough Scars are difficult to predict. Different people scar differently. The itching and tenderness can be really annoying. I doubt you will respond to anything you rub on or wear over the scars at this point in your healing. You may respond to injection of steroids into the scars or may consider surgical scar revision. You need to be seen in person for an exam to get the best options. See your original surgeon or another board certified plastic surgeon and ask for their opinion of your next step.
