Why do my teeth hurt after x-rays didn't find anything?

Question

The front tooth on the right, plus the one next to it have been hurting for almost 2 weeks. I just had my x-rays done, and nothing bad was found. I am a grinder but I wear a night guard (store bought). Why do my teeth hurt?

Thank you for your great question. More likely then not it is a bite issue. if your bite is off and you put too much pressure on those teeth, they can be sore and/or sensitive. Consider asking your dentist to check bite interferences or prematurities.After adjusting those , everything should become normal after a couple of days.All the best to you.

Your pain is probably coming from a tooth contact that is not in harmony with an ideal bite, and your muscles are attempting to grind it away with enormous forces while you are asleep. The offending tooth/teeth is put through a real workout all night long and then is sore the next day. A properly made night guard is a complicated thing to create when done correctly by someone who really knows what he is doing. Making on at home can't ever compare to the real thing. In fact you can easily create a bigger problem, and it seems that you well may have done just that. A homemade guard is okay for some people; however, for the ones like you who really need one, you need a professionally made guard. More important you need someone who really understands "occlusion" to examine your bite. A simple adjustment to your teeth could easily make huge improvements in your grinding.
