No prescribed cream (hydroquinone and retina A) or online products are working for me now. Did I damage my skin?

My natural skin color is medium brown but I’ve experienced extreme skin blackening and it’s noticeable to everyone to the point I don’t look like my ethnicity. Will I have to resort to depigmenting cream? The skin blackening around is bumpy and almost black purple:/ my body is medium carmel. I know when I used the other skin lighteners in the past it worked short term but I did not listen and use sun screen when in direct sun. All lightening creams are making me darker now. Did I damage my skin?

It is possible that this is genetic and unchangeable. I would first try a three month course of oral tranexamic acid. This medication is safe and lightens dark areas in 90% of patients. I hope this helps. Dr. Brown
