Almost three years post op - How can I get rid of the discoloration around my scar?

Hi, I’m almost three years post-op from arm AirSculpt with added skin tightening. I was told the scars would fade into little freckles, but they’re still very visible, including a reddish-brown scar near my armpit. I raised this a year ago and was told to let it heal. I’m getting married soon and feel uncomfortable wearing even short sleeves, let alone my wedding dress. This has seriously affected my confidence, and I’d like to know what your office can do to address it.

Even nearly three years after surgery, visible discoloration may sometimes be improved, but the best treatment depends on what is causing it. Reddish-brown marks can result from post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, persistent redness, or changes in the scar tissue itself. These concerns may require different approaches, such as prescription topical treatments, specific laser treatments, or scar-directed therapies.

For now, protect the areas from sun exposure, as UV light can make pigmentation more noticeable. Avoid using harsh lightening products or trying aggressive treatments on the scars without professional guidance, especially around the delicate underarm area.

Since the discoloration has persisted for several years, it’s reasonable to have the scars reassessed rather than simply continuing to wait for them to fade. I would also want to distinguish whether the marks are primarily pigment changes or actual textural scars, since that can significantly affect the treatment plan. While complete removal cannot be guaranteed, there may be options to make them less noticeable and help you feel more comfortable in your wedding dress.
