My orthodontist shaved/filed off too much between my two front teeth and in between both incisor teeth on my right and left sides, that now there are visible gaps between all the areas. It is milimeters of space, but that is a LOT when it comes to teeth. Why did he do this? Treatment did nothing to close the gaps, my teeth look worse off than before i started. Is there any way to fix this? Also, is it advisable to go to another ortho? I don't understand what his aesthetic goals are.

Yes, this is a problem. Your back teeth should touch slightly before your front teeth do. the back teeth are stronger snd need to touch for chewing efficiency. When the front touch first they can splay out and make your smile less attractive.
