We have been very successful lightening the pigment and scar tissue in personal areas including areolas, bikini area, knees & elbows using the PicoSure laser with the FOCUS and / or Flat Lenses with a series of treatments. We would encourage you to find an experienced provider with excellent reviews that can competently handle this. We prefer the PicoSure's 755nm for pigment & scar correction in patients with darker skin. FOCUS lens treatments have the extra benefit of reducing any texture issues. PicoSure has almost no downtime. This is one of our go to treatments for patients older than 40 and worried about the signs of aging. This laser is safe for all skin types. We also send some hyperpigmentation patients home with prescription strength 4% Hydroquinone (HQ). Do not buy it over the counter or off the internet. Laws vary by state. In Texas, physicians can prescribe and dispense in office. Start with sunscreen every day! Once you have treated your hyperpigmentation to your satisfaction, you will probably need a follow treatment every 6 to 12 months depending your level of re-pigmentation. Best of luck.
I have a lot of patients who use generic Retin-A with their Obagi Nuderm kit. Their insurance covers it. The Obagi NuDerm kit lasts about 3 months. You can place tretinoin on the lower eyelids to helps wrinkles, fine lines and pigmentation. I hope this helps.Best wishes,Dr. D.

Yes, I agree with the information below. I would use the Obagi Nuderm in order starting with the face wash. After the last AM step (sunscreen) you can apply makeup or go about your day as usual but for full effectiveness of the system I would not wash your face again.
