Hi, thanks for sending your question. Its important to note that Retainers only hold teeth in a desired position. They have no moving ability for the teeth. Therefore if you are interested in having the teeth move back in a straight position, we would need to use either conventional braces, or what I would highly recommend for you would be the invisalign system. Your final results will look fanatastic! All the best.
If you get new retainers that are made from impressions of where your teeth are currently, then there will be no change to tooth position. If your new retainers will be made from the original models when you first finished with braces, you MIGHT get them to go back to where they were.
If you can't get back to your old orthodontist easily I suggest asking them for a referral. You may also look up orhtodontists on the American Academy of Orthodontists to see if there is one close to you. They should be able to make the recommended treatment decisions.

It sounds as if you are on some sort of insurance plan that dictates who gets braces. If you are paying cash for your braces there is no acceptance or denial process. I would guess your insurance is the problem.
Not wearing your retainers has allowed your teeth to shift. Wearing the retainers again may move them back into the ideal position or it may not. I suggest visiting your orthodontist to determine the best course of action.
