Can I get Invisalign with a partial tooth?

Question

I am gettin a molar taken out because it is absest, they are putting a spacer on my back tooth until I can get a partial in place of the missing tooth. My teeth are very unstraight and I have been wanting braces or invisaline for a very long time. Can I still get either one with the partial tooth?

Straighten your teeth first before worrying about a replacement tooth. However, if your are not planning to start orthodontic treatment right away, you need to maintain the space of the missing tooth or else that space will decrease in size and cause a all kinds of other problems. So have some kind of space maintainer or retainer made until you can start your braces or Invisalign

It is very important to first straighten your teeth with Invisalign, and after your teeth are completely straight to then replace any missing teeth.

If you choose to Invisalign performed I would hold off on any treatment to replace the tooth that will be removed.  I would have the teeth positioned in ideal location without the hinderance of any prosthesis.  In addition, if you have a partial and the teeth are shifted the partial will most likely not fit anymore.
