I'm unable to take medication (ibuprofen, acetaminophen, naproxen sodium, etc.) to manage the gum pain when my wearing the braces. I've tried numbing gel but found the product would numb not just my gums but my entire mouth. Any advice?

If there is anything about your final results that you do not like you can have your orthodontist make additional aligners to correct those issues. If you have already ordered retainers then there could be additional costs involved.
