Recently I have begun to get accordian folds when I smile that are quite pronouced. Is this something that can be treated with filler or sculptra? Or is this only fixed with a facelift?
Answer: Accordion Folds Hello em.89! Thank you for your question. Sculptra can be a great tool for treating concerns that stem from lost volume- from the photo it does look like Sculptra would help. Some filler products could assist as well, but Sculptra would typically be the better choice for such a mobile area in order to ensure natural and sustainable results. I hope this helped! Answer: For "Accordion Folds": Consider A Low Viscosity, Malleable, Cohesive HA Filler I have had success treating these kinds of "accordion folds" or parallel laugh lines using a low viscosity, malleable, cohesive HA filler. The filler must be fanned under the folds with the proper technique (not injected directly into them) so as to provide the proper support to the area and resistance to the movement of the underlying muscles of facial expression responsible for these folds when smiling. You would be wise to make sure to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist filler expert and best of luck.

Answer: Treatment options for Accordians fold Sculptra is a type of injectable filler that stimulates your skin's own collagen production. It is often used to add volume to areas of the face to create a smoother, fuller appearance. While it is commonly used to treat deep lines, wrinkles, and folds, its effectiveness on accordion lines specifically may vary depending on the severity and depth of the lines. Accordion lines can sometimes be difficult to treat because they are caused by repeated muscle movement and skin laxity. While Sculptra can provide some improvement, it may not completely eliminate these lines. In some cases, a combination of treatments may be more effective. This could include Sculptra for volume restoration, along with other treatments such as laser resurfacing or microneedling to improve skin texture and elasticity. A facelift can provide a more dramatic and long-lasting solution, especially for severe cases. However, it is also a more invasive procedure with a longer recovery time. It's best to consult with a dermatologist or plastic surgeon to discuss your specific case and determine the best treatment for you.

Answer: Treating facial accordion folds The answer to your question depends on what has happened to your face and how old you are. If you find that your face is lost a great deal of volume, then you can treat the face by adding more volume with the use of fat grafting or the use of sculptra. When fat is used, their results are natural and permanent as long as the procedure is done by an expert fat grafting Plastic surgeon. Sculptra in the hands of the right individual is also quite an easy procedure except that you have to wait approximately six weeks or more for the visible effect. At the same time if you have aged because of the natural process yet you did not lose weight than a facelift may being option. Have a consultation with a plastic surgeon and bring up the three versions of treatment that I’ve given you. You should come up with the right plan. I hope this helps and good luck from Leonard Grossman MD Organic Plastic Surgery.
