I had removal of 850g from each breast 11/1. Pre-op size was 38 I/J. Post op is 38 F. Is this correct with the amount removed?

Congratulations on your surgery - you must be feeling relief have had 1.7kg of weight literally taken off your shoulders.Your plastic surgeon would have counselled you beforehand that it is not possible to accurately predict cup size following surgery. Different bra manufacturers "size" breasts differently. Before your surgery, you would have found a huge range of bras that fit you - and that was without any surgery at all.If you feel you are still too large, further reductions in volume can be performed. Small additional reductions can be achieved with liposuction. Larger reductions would involved more surgery. I would wait until everything had settled before going down that path and be guided by your plastic surgeon.I hope this helps.

There is no specific/reliable change in cup size they can be predicted based on how much tissue is removed during breast reduction surgery. Also, as you know, bra cup sizes vary from one bra manufacturer to another, making communication with references to cup sizes too subjective. For the benefit of future patients contemplating breast reduction surgery, careful preoperative communication with your plastic surgeon will be one of the keys to success. Remember, as you communicate your goals with your plastic surgeon, that a discussion of cup size can be confusing and/or a source of miscommunication. In my practice, I prefer the use of goal pictures to help with this communication process. Generally speaking, I suggest patients undergoing breast reduction surgery have enough tissue removed to help alleviate/decrease symptoms they are experiencing, while preserving enough tissue to feel comfortable about the upper and lower body proportionality.
