All on 6, upper full arch fixed bridge dental implants with BMP bone grafting. Is $45,000 a reasonable cost?

Surgery 1: Remove front 6 teeth, Ridge preservation grafts #6-11, Particulate Grafts #6-11, Bone Morphogenetic Protein x2, General Anesthesia, removable appliance w/ 6 teeth to wear for 6 months while grafting takes. Surgery 2: Remove remaining teeth, Place 6 implants at 4,6,8,9,11,13, General Anesthesia, Placement of immediate prosthesis. Final Zirconia prosthesis placed a few months later. Total Cost: $45,000 ($20K to cosmetic dentist for prostheses, $25K to oral surgeon)

The way we handle a case like yours is to do the entire surgery in one visit. Remove all of the teeth and place 4 to 6 implants in the upper arch. With a full zirconia restoration the total cost would be $26,500. $45,000 would be for the full mouth upper and lower.

BMP is not used for every case. I use BMP for patients with severe bone defects, atrophy, or for re-do/revision cases. In all circumstances, we use it when we HAVE to HAVE bone growth, no matter what. It is a wonderful product, and have been using since 2009... I would use it more regularly, however, there is substantial costs incurred to the doctor, and then the patient. The company that sells it, Medtronic, charges the DOCTOR $1500-6000, just for the product. So although the $25K to the oral surgeon "sounds high", its definitely reasonable, with the bone loss you implicate. Alternatives to BMP/grafting may include zygomatic implants, which are placed in the "cheek bone" and requires no additional grafting. Fair warning: use an oral surgeon experienced in the zygomatic procedure, and a prosthodontist experienced in the fixed bridge immediate loading protocol, as these implants must be splinted at insertion. Ask to see some past case example!! Find an implant team that you are comfortable, ask to see the CBCT, and have the doctor explain it to you.As with all information, each case is unique, so seek the advice of a specialist!

The procedures you received allowed you to have a fixed restoration almost equivlant in some ways to natural teeth.  The real question is what that is worth to you.  The immediate prosthesis means you have two restorations.  It is not necessary but having teeth during healing is great but comes with a cost.Bone grafts and BMP probably mean you needed extensive grafting.  Brand Name implants and materials are expensive.  An all Zirconia restoration is a high end restorative procedure.High end treatment often carries high end price tags.  Another dentist may do procedures for less aand save by skipping BMP use generic implants etc.You can buy a BMW or a used chevy, both work but one costs more and gives more comforts.Were you informed up-front of the costs?
