Can retinol and/tretinoin deepen nasolabial folds? Not the actual wrinkles but the volume (under cheeks shadow). (Photo)

I'm definitely prone to nasolabial folds but GOD... I'm only 23 and have those big under cheeks shadows that seems to be getting quickly worst even though I have a skin care routine and properly use gua sha. I just read about someone having their undereye deepened because of tretinoine. Would it be the same with naso folds and retinol? The photo is not the best but you can see what I mean.

Retinoic Acid is like an exfoliant in that it turns your skin cells over so it is a fantastic medication for antiaging. However, it will make your skin more sensitive to acids and the sun. Wait until you are acclimated to the medication - no peeling, major redness, or "anticipated reaction"...

Thanks for your question. It is possible to use retin-a on the neck, but you will want to just use a very small amount to avoid irritation. Ask your dermatologist if they would recommend anything in addition to retin-a for that area. Sometimes people need some IPL treatments or other laser...
